Tecta, a German furniture company, was founded in 1956 by architect Hans Könnecke in Lauenforde, Germany. Its name combines the Greek word "techne" with the idea of technology. Tecta produces licensed Bauhaus designs, as well as new designs by contemporary designers. The company's furniture is handmade to order using innovative materials and techniques. Tecta is committed to environmental sustainability and uses wood as much as possible. Some iconic Tecta furniture includes the Tecta B 25 cantilever chair, the D40 chair designed by Marcel Breuer in 1928, the D14 chair that shifts from an upright posture to a relaxed position when weight is shifted, and the F41-E lounge with a wicker surface, stainless steel frame and Bauhaus straps.
