My name is Cynthia Fleischmann and I am a Swiss/American activist artist living in Zurich, Switzerland.
‘Bodypaintography’ is the word I created to define my art of combining body-painting & photography to create and capture a connection between person and place. Red hands are my signature and symbol of humanity, connecting us to each other and our ancestors. They are a reminder that no matter what environment we are personally connected to, we are all connected to each other as humans, with the power to share love and compassion or hatred and destruction. The choice is ours.
I wish for us to use our red hands for kindness over violence.
I was 20 in my senior year at the University of Miami (2009) getting my Bachelor of Arts in Painting when I started experimenting with 'bodypaintography'. I soon after received a full-ride scholarship with a Teachers Assistant position to continue my artistic journey to attain a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Photography from the University of Miami, Florida.
